Yes, as promised, Ladies and Germs, we’re having a Trippin’ Billy Preston Thanksgiving Hop Weekend, tonight featuring a two-fer.
Yes, save your jukebox money tonight, because you’re getting two videos of one of the greatest of great rock musicians and showmen, Billy Preston, who was famously known as “the Fifth Beatle” because of his being part of the Beatles’ inner sanctum when he wasn’t touring or recording with everbody from the Rolling Stones to Neal Diamond to Johnny Cash and Little Richard and Bonnie Raitt and Ray Charles and name a major musical artist going all the way back to Nat King Cole and Mahalia Jackson to Michael McDonald, who you’ll see with the great one in the first video in Michael Mac’s Motown PBS special in which they do Stevie Wonderfully.
And oh–speaking of the Rolling Stones–the second video features that Mick Jagger guy who Billy literally sends into “Outta Space” (with another Rolling Stoner on guitar, BTW).
Just you watch and see.
Your Friday Night Special: Billy Preston & Jitterbugger gonna rock you one more time (Twice, actually, with Mike McDonald and that Mick Jagger guy)
