The NRA has gone librul on these people packing assault rifles. Where is Joe the Plumber when you need him.
Go figure the leadership of the NRA and the “craven politicians” who sell their souls to what is the biggest, most uncompromising and most intimidating pressure group America has ever seen.
The NRA, and their water boys in Congress and state legislatures (and at Fox News), spend obscene amounts of money and time creating a gun culture of absolutely no limits, no boundaries.
They’ve given us a culture in which militant extremists were able to get away with pointing guns, that were supposed to be made for war only, at the heads of federal agents in the standoff with Clive Bundy, the wildest and craziest rodeo clown of a man in the West.
You remember Bundy, the 2nd amendment militant and friend of the NRA. He was heralded as an American patriot and hero at Fox News until Sean Hannity, who fawned all over the crazy old hoot and praised him as “a great American” to the high heavens, dropped the crazy old hoot in the grease.
The NRA and the lawmakers that they own–lock, stock and gun barrel–have created this culture that has inspired groups of intimidating, gun-wielding militants in Texas to flaunt weapons made for war in restaurants and Home Depots–and even in one case at, of all things, an arts and cultural event.
But now–lo and behold–the NRA comes out to say that the gun-wielding intimidators demonstrating their 2nd amendment rights by carrying assault rifles in businesses have gone OVER THE TOP! The NRA has the audacity to denounce these assault rifle-bearing militants that they, the NRA created, as “weird.” (See story here.) The NRA’s statement denouncing the “weirdos” would be laughable if the culture of death in America weren’t so serious.
Had it been black men staging these ridiculous stunts to demonstrate their 2nd Amendment Rights, by the way, America would freak out, with Sean Hannity leading the chorus of outraged howlers.
Hannity once made a massive big deal of a story about two Black Panthers who stood near one election poll site in all of America. He almost popped an artery alerting that “black militants” were intimidating American voters by standing around with their assault rifles, as this outrage was a nationwide event.
Hannity has never been any great shakes of a news commentator, even though he’s been outstanding as a political propagandist and idealogue.
But the NRA was a truly great organization once, long before former President Bush the Elder dropped his NRA membership in protest of the crazed NRA leadership back in the nineties. There was a time when the NRA was focused first and foremost, almost exclusively, on gun safety and education.
Now it’s focused on retaining its ownership of Congress and lawmakers everywhere.
And now they want to say that, gee golly, yaw–those guys carrying assault rifles around in Texas sure ain’t what we’re about, folks. Those guys in Texas lugging around their big war guns are just weird.
I’m sure Joe the Plumber must be disturbed that the NRA has gone all liberal and anti-American.
