R.I.P. Omar Sharif.
He was not only a genuinely great actor who will be remembered most for the epics “Dr. Zhivago” and a supporting role in “Lawrence of Arabia,” but a genuinely class act, whose most burning passion in life was . . . bridge.
And for some Friday Night Music Therapy . . . a great Glen Campbell classic, writ by the great songwriter Jimmy Webb, about one of my favorite places in Texas, dedicated to the McKays down in Galveston this week. (And you know who you are.)
And in case you never heard of Glen Campbell, kids, he played guitar with The Beach Boys in studio sessions. Although, he was kind of famous in his own right back in the day.
And speaking of favorite McKay songs, Jill McKay Granberry and Emma down in Galveston, Oh, Galveston — Unca Paul would have been 8 years old the first time he heard this, in 1958, a very good year.
