When I was five years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
— Beatle John Lennon, always wise beyond his years
Today is the birthday of that great campaigner for peace, love, harmony and beauty, John Lennon.
It occurred to me when I came across this quote today that politics is messing with my happiness and harmony, big-time.
I’m going to have my passionate opinions, but I’m resolving not to let them overwhelm me and rob me of happiness, harmony and peace.
It helps to hear music and watch videos that have the power to take me back (to borrow a line from “Dream No. 9,” one of those magnificently dreamy John songs) “to where everything flows.”
Strawberry Fields Forever, John.
