The complete disrespect for the legalities of this country is something that ought to concern every American regardless of how they feel about a border wall.”
— Jeffrey Glassberg, founder of the National Butterfly Center on the Texas border
See the center’s Website here, which includes the horror story of Trump’s federales trampling all over their private property rights.

So you don’t believe the federal government is trampling all over Americans’ property rights down on the border? Ask the owners of the a monarch butterfly sanctuary in South Texas.
Here’s some ugly and I mean very ugly news about that great, big beautiful(?) Wall you-know-who imagines in his fevered mind.
While he and his minions had us looking the other way with new outrages every day, this, according to the Texas Observer, happened down on the Rio Grande in my beloved Texas:
-
On July 20, Jeffrey Glassberg discovered that the Trump administration planned to build a wall through the National Butterfly Center in South Texas — a 100-acre sanctuary for the monarch butterfly and other threatened species.
The founder of the center wasn’t notified in writing by the U.S. Department of Justice, as required by law. Instead, he found out when a group of workers with chainsaws began tearing through specially planted habitat on the privately owned land. [My italics for emphasis.]
“This is a much bigger issue than the National Butterfly Center,” Glassberg told the Observer. “There’s a procedure the government could follow with due process. But they’ve decided — like with so much else — to just ignore the law, trampling on private property rights. The complete disrespect for the legalities of this country is something that ought to concern every American regardless of how they feel about a border wall.”
The surprise visit came less than a week after July 14, when the Observer revealed that the Trump administration had been secretly planning for six months to build the first segment of border wall through the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge, which is 19 miles east of the Mission, Texas, butterfly center.
Here’s the brief but revealing story the Observer broke about the secret work being down on the wall shortly after the surprise visit at the Butterfly sanctuary.
-
For at least six months, private contractors and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials have been quietly preparing to build the first piece of President Trump’s border wall through the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge in South Texas.
The federally owned 2,088-acre refuge, often called the “crown jewel of the national wildlife refuge system,” could see construction begin as early as January 2018, according to a federal official who has been involved in the planning but asked to remain anonymous.
“This should be public information,” the official told the Observer. “There shouldn’t be government officials meeting in secret just so they don’t have to deal with the backlash. The public has the right to know about these plans.” [My italics for emphasis.]
CBP plans to construct an 18-foot levee wall that would stretch for almost three miles through the wildlife refuge, according to the official. The structure would consist of a concrete base, which would serve as a levee, and be topped with a fence made of steel bollards, similar to a levee wall built almost a decade ago near Hidalgo, Texas. A second federal official confirmed these details to the Observer.
This is how America gets restored to Greatness?
I could cry!
Our family talks about this wall often. In fact, my 14-year-old son created a petition against the wall a few weeks ago, but it never went live, because we couldn’t get enough signatures. And here’s one more heartbreaking consequence of this insanity.
Insane is right. The media has so much insane stuff to cover every day that if there weren’t so much, this story would be page one, 24-7 news and the outrage would be intense.
